The Sim: 3-4: 1-3 @ YS9 and 2-1 @ MAD
The Good: Not a lot of good things this sim, to be honest. Losing three of four at Yellow Springs is not ideal. Both them and Madison are near the bottom of the division and I was hoping for a much better showing.
I will give some praise to 2B/OF Sonny Bigelow. The 24-year-old is having a career year and has been arguably our team MVP. His 1.8 WAR is tied for the highest on our team and his versatility has been crucial. 28 games at RF, 18 at 2B, 6 at LF, 4 at CF, 2 at 1B and 1 at SS. He's been our leadoff hitter this season and his .370 OBP in that spot is a far cry from his previous career high of .306 OBP.
The Bad: OF/DH Jose Romero broke a rib and will miss 6 weeks. I do think we have enough OF depth to not panic, but it will be a significant drop off. These next six weeks, plus a potential rehab stint, he won't be back until well after the All-Star break. Shoutout to journeyman OF Kosho Kondo, the 31-year-old journeyman is having a career year: .259/.854 OPS. He's going to get a lot more ABs with Romero on the shelf.
The Ugly: With Romero out, we got some tough matchups during that stretch: TWC, NASH, VAN, VAL and OMA. If we can go .500 over the next six weeks, I think we will be ok.
The Minors: 2nd, 1st, 1st, 4th and 2nd all the respective levels.
