He Who Walks Behind the Rows. 2044 Outfield Review
The Good
Lucio De La Cruz
This 26-year old Argentine can mash. So far in 2044 he has accumulated a 3.0 WAR by hitting 42 dingers, driving in 83 and slashing .264/.329/.607. De La Cruz spent little time in the outfield with the team not wanting anymore garbage out there than needed, but the DH spot suited him nicely. De La Cruz has one year of arbitration left, so hopefully the Kernels don’t mess this one up and lose him to free agency.
Nori Knuckles
The 24-year old ex-Yakuza arcade enforcer has had a great season at the plate, slashing .303/.402/.544 and accumulating a 2.7 WAR. He spent most of the season at the top or the order where he scored 57 runs. Where Yokoyama fails is in the field. His -7.8 ZR is an improvement on 2043 but its still garbage.
Juan Santana
This cagey vet is having a bounce back season after a disappointing 2043. So far .271/.308/.447 is good enough to keep him in the good category. He’s never been average in the field, but compared to the rest of the pylons out there, he’s a stud (-1.7 ZR for 2044).
The Bad
Pretty much the rest of them, but both Man-keung Sui and Jorge Aranda really stand out. Sui was brought in for his glove in an attempt to stop the bleading out there, good news is, he staunched it, but the Kernels were really hoping to get some stellar play out in CF to overcome his struggles at the plate.
Aranda has just been terrible all around. The 25-year old Mexican has a 52 WRC+, -2.2 WAR and a stunning -10.2 ZR in CF for 2044. Rumour had it that the Kernels were trying to offload this slacker before the trade deadline, but once other GMs got a look at that stat line, no chance.

Hoped to play him there a lot more this season, but alas, injuries...
