Series Recap Kernels vs Monsters 2040-10

August 3 - 6, 2040


The Kernels start an eleven game home stand against the Twin City River Monsters. The series was split between the teams, each winning two games.


August 3, 2040. The Twin City River Monsters scored two runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, one run in the fifth inning, one run in the sixth inning, and one run in the eighth inning. The Kernels scored one run in the fifth inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Kernel’s efforts were not enough as the Monsters won 8 to 3 over the Kernels. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Duane Coutts, had his eleventh loss of the season, going 1.2 inning, giving up six hits, five runs and one BB. Monster’s starting pitcher, Oniji Oyama, earned his third win of the season, going 6 innings, giving up two hits, one run, and three BB. Monster’s right fielder, Ricardo Juarez, was named the player of the game, with two hits, two runs including a two run homer, and four RBIs.


August 4, 2040. The second game of the series looked a lot like the first game of the series with the Twin City River Monsters coming right out scoring runs. They scored four runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, two runs in the seventh inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Kernel’s bats were hotter, however, not hot enough to pull out a win, as they scored one run in the second inning, two runs in the sixth inning, three runs in the seventh inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Monsters won 11 to 8 over the Kernels. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Greg Palmer, had his eighth loss of the season, going 1.1 inning, giving up seven hits, seven runs, and one BB. Monster’s starting pitcher, Ragnar Lothbrok, earned his eighth win of the season, going 6.2 innings, giving up eight hits, four runs, and two BB. Monster’s designated hitter, Joey Piccoli, was named the player of the game with two hits, two home runs, including a grand slam home run, and five RBIs. Monster’s center fielder, Gilberto Lopez, was injured while throwing the ball. Kernel’s relief pitcher, Juan Garcia was injured while pitching.


August 5, 2040. The Kernels scored one run in the first inning, four runs in the second inning, two runs in the third inning, and one run in the fourth inning. The Twin City River Monsters scored two runs in the second inning, and one run in the ninth inning. The Kernels with ten game hits were able to pull out a 8 to 3 win over the Monsters. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Mario Villarreal, earned his fourth win of the season, going 5 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, and one BB. Monster’s starting pitcher, Jerry Coyle, had his seventh loss of the season, going 2 innings, giving up five hits, seven runs, and three BB. Kernel’s designated hitter, Jorge Rodriguez, was named the player of the game, with two hits, and two runs.


August 6, 2040. The Kernels scored three runs in the first inning, one run in the sixth inning, and two runs in the seventh inning. The Twin City River Monsters scored one run in the sixth inning, and one run in the eighth inning. The Kernels won 6 to 2 over the Monsters. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Juan Garcia, earned his tenth win of the season, going 7.1 innings, giving up eight hits, two runs, and one BB. Monster’s starting pitcher, Manuel Gonzalez, had his twelfth loss of the season, going 6 innings, giving up seven hits, five runs, and two BB. Kernel’s designated hitter, Gerbrand de Best, was named the player of the game with two hits, one home run, and three RBIs.
