July 31 – August 1, 2040


The Kernels have a two game road trip against the San Fernando Bears. The series is split with each team winning one game.


July 31, 2040. The San Fernando Bears shut out the Kernels with a 1 to 0 score. The game was a pitching duel until the Bears scored one run in the eighth inning. The Bears had four hits compared to the Kernels one hit. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Juan Garcia, had his eighth loss of the season, going 7.1 inning, giving up three hits, one run, and one BB. Bear’s relief pitcher, Carlos Maestas, had second win of the season, going .1 inning, giving up zero hits, runs, and BB. Bear’s starting pitcher, Jon Reed, was named the player of the game, going 7.2 innings, giving up one hit, zero runs, and four BB.


August 1, 2040. The Kernels finally pull out a win, scoring one run in the second inning, one run in the fourth inning, and three runs in the ninth inning. The San Fernando Bears scored one run in the third inning, and two runs in the seventh inning. The Kernels won 5 to 3 over the Bears. Kernel’s relief pitcher, Francisco Rodriguez, earned his fourth win of the season, going 1 inning, giving up one hit, zero runs, and zero BB. Bear’s relief pitcher, Miroslav Tomanek, had his seventh loss of the season, going 1 inning, giving up three hits, three runs, and one BB. Bear’s starting pitcher, Kidanu Cherono, was named the player of the game, going 8 innings, giving up seven hits, two runs and two BB.

I remember saying on a podcast with ted in like the 2033 season that Jon reed is the sort of guy who can throw a 6 walk no hitter someday.
