July 20 - 23, 2040


The Kernels start a ten game home stand with a four game series against the Yellow Springs Nine. The Nine will take the series 3 to 1.


July 20, 2040. The Kernels scored four runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning and one run in the seventh inning to shut out the Yellow Springs Nine. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Don Smith had the no-hitter against the Nine. Smith was named the player of the game, facing only 30 batters. He had three walks and struck out 6 batters. It was Smith’s fifth win of the season. Nines’ starting pitcher, Luis Colon, had his fourth loss of the season, going 3 innings, giving up seven hits, five runs, and one BB.


July 21, 2040. The Yellow Springs Nine scored two runs in the third inning, one run in the fifth inning, one run in the eighth inning, and four runs in the ninth inning. The Kernels scored one run in the fifth inning, and three runs in the ninth inning. The Nine won 8 to 4 over the Kernels as the Kernels rally at the end of the game was not enough to come back for the win. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Juan Garcia, had his seventh loss of the season, going 5.1 innings, giving up seven hits, three runs, and two BB. Nine’s starting pitcher, Adam Barnard, earned his seventh win of the season, going 5 innings, giving up five hits, one run, and three BB. Nine’s right fielder, Andy McKinney, was named the player of the game, with three hits, two runs, and two RBIs.


July 22, 2040. The Yellow Springs Nine scored three runs in the first inning, one run in the fourth inning, three runs in the sixth inning, and one run in the ninth inning. The Kernels scored two runs in the fourth inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Nine won 8 to 4 over the Kernels. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Jose Rivera, had his fourth loss of the season, going 5 innings, giving up eight hits, seven runs, and two BB. Nine’s starting pitcher, Freddy Delgado, earned his third win of the season, going 5.1 innings, giving up five hits, two runs, and two BB. Nine’s catcher, Aaron Stone, was named the player of the game, with three hits, two runs including one home run, and two RBIs.


July 23, 2040. The Yellow Springs Nine scored three runs in the first inning, four runs in the fifth inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Kernels scored one run in the third inning, one run in the fifth inning, and one run in the eighth inning. The Nine won 9 to 3 over the Kernels. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Duane Coutts, had his ninth loss of the season, going 4.2 innings, giving up seven hits, seven runs, and two BB. Nine’s starting pitcher, Ernesto Ramos, earned his fourteenth win of the season, going 6 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, and four BB. Nine’s designated hitter, Mark Haynes, was named the player of the game, with two hits, two runs, and three RBIs. Nine’s pitcher, Timofei Bakitski was injured while pitching.
