Series Recap Kernels vs Hawks 2040-01

June 30 – July 2, 2040


The Kernels have a short three game home stand against the Omaha Hawks. The series ended with one win for the Kernels.

June 30, 2040. The Kernels scored one run in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning, and three runs in the seventh inning. The Omaha Hawks scored one run in the fourth inning, four runs in the fifth inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Kernels had tied up the game in the seventh inning, however, the Hawks took the lead in the ninth inning with a 2 run home run winning the game 7 to 5 over the Kernels. Kernel’s relief pitcher, Abel van Gastel, had his fifth loss of the season, going 4 innings, giving up one hit, one run, and two BB. Hawk’s relief pitcher, Tony Medine, earned his sixth win of the season, going 2 innings, giving up one hit and one BB. Hawk’s designated hitter, Martin Marin, was named the play of the game with one hit, three runs including one home run, and one RBI.


July 1, 2040. After a pitcher’s duel for the first four innings, the Kernels scored one run in the fifth inning, and two runs in the ninth inning. The Omaha Hawks were finally able to score two runs in the ninth inning. Kernel’s relief pitcher, Jose Castro, earned his fifth win of the season, going 1 inning, giving up three hits, two runs, and zero BB. Hawk’s relief pitcher, Jose Canaels, had his fifth loss of the season, giving up four hits, two runs, and one BB. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Don Smith, was named the player of the game, going 7.2 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and only two BB.


July 2, 2040. The Omaha Hawks shut out the Kernels 5 to 0. Hawk’s starting pitcher, Elliot Buckland, went the entire distance, giving up only 2 hits, and 3 BB. It was Buckland’s sixth win of the season and he was named the player of the game. The Hawk’s came out strong scoring one run in the first inning, following up with three runs in the sixth inning, and one run in the seventh inning. The Kernels only managed to get two hits.
