The long grind of the 2039 season came to the end with the Kernels going 11 – 15 for the month of September and ending the season 6 games below 500 at 75 – 87 and finishing in fourth place. Kernels allowed 930 runs, while scoring 788, with a negative run differential of 142, the most in the Heartland Division and second in the Frick League.
Batter of the Month
Second baseman, Alan Williamson, is still hitting the cover off of the ball going 28 for 99 with 5 doubles, 6 home runs, 20 RBIs, scoring 20 runs, 13 walks, and striking out 33 times and posted a .390 OBP.
Pitcher of the Month
Rookie Don Smith, started 5 games in September going 2 – 2 in 30.2 innings pitched. Don allow 27 hits, 2 home runs , 10 walks, and struck out 25 with an ERA of 4.40.
