Post by Edward Murphy » Sun Jul 28, 2019 9:26 am

The Kernels had another good month going 13 – 14 for June and are still 2 games over 500. Players that GM Ed Murphy called up include relief pitcher Ron Gabriel who pitched in 12 games, earned 3 wins, pitching for 16 innings and a 1.10 whip. The Kernels also called up two fielders. The first move was Lúcio De La Cruz sending José Ortega down to AAA. Lucio roll is a pitch hitter / DH and has been at bat 60 times and posted a triple slash of .250/.378/.467. Secondly, called up is Héctor Cruz who plays a platoon roll with left fielder Jorge Rodríguez. Hector has 13 at bats with 5 hits, 2 home runs, and drove in 4 runs in only 4 games played.

Batter of the Month:
Second baseman Alan Wililamson, posted a .287 avg for June starting in 27 games hitting 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 home runs which drove in 17 runs.

Pitcher of the Month:
Relief Pitcher Mario Villarreal, earned the award. Mario appeared in 11 games, going 3 wins and 1 lost, pitching a total of 30 and a third innings, giving up 11 earned runs, 15 walks, and striking out 27.
