Manager Josh McConnell announced the calling up of infielder, Alan Williamson. Alan came to the Kernels via a trade with San Fernando Bears. Josh said, “the change of scenery has done Alan good. His work ethic has improved and he is fitting in well in the club house. Our intention was to give Alan a full year at AAA but after we lost Manny Montanez for the season, with a torn labrum, our plans had to change. Alan was doing great in AAA in 12 games 45 at bats he was hitting .356/.444/.578, so we felt why not call him up. Alan had a very little drop off production coming to the Major League level in 28 games, 95 at bats he is hitting .305/.382/.495.
The team trainer has told me that Alan has a strained hamstring and will be out for 5 weeks. We hope this will not become a major setback on Alan’s development.
