Welcome to BBA awards season, two Des Moines Kernels players walked away with hardware. It was no surprise that catcher, Cisco Arreola, won his fourth consecutive BBA FL Charles Puckett Golden Bat Award and his eighth in 12 seasons as the starting back stop for the Kernels. In the 2036 season, Cisco appeared in 136 games, 491 at bats, collected 122 hits, 37 home runs and lead the team with 98 RBI’s. (.248/.360/.534).

First year starter, Willie Carter, won the 2036 BBA FL Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award at 1B. Willie played in a total of 156 games, 1363.1 innings with a zone range of +8.5, range factor of 9.18 making only 10 errors all season. Manager Josh McConnell said, “the organization is very comfortable with a 22 year old at first base, and that gave the club the ability to move William Moreland to the DH spot. Willie has a good head on his shoulders and does everything right. We drafted Willie as a third baseman where he struggled. Moving Willie to first base was great for both of us. He took to the position like duck to water. On the club we have a position rating of 10 on him. He was also a key player for the team .702 defensive efficiency forth in Flick League.”

Congratulations to both Cisco and Willie for a productive season.
