In a quickly called press conference, owner Stephen Collins Jr, announced the Kernels have traded first baseman / designated hitter, William Moreland, to the San Fernando Bears pending medical review. Stephen said, “This was the toughest thing I have done. William is a team leader, loved by the fans, and is an outstanding person.” After the 2036 season, William and Stephen sat down and talked. William express his concerned about winning a Landis, his love for the city, and the fans. During the meeting William asked if a trade could be on the horizon. Stating if not he would be back for the 2037 doing his best. The next day Stephen talked to GM Ed Murphy to see if a trade could be worked out sending William to a contender and within 24 hours a deal was worked out.
GM Ed Murphy added, William was a great player for the Kernels, he holds many team batting records including Slugging percent .562, Total bases 2896, Home run 375, Rbi’s 977. William is a team leader in the club house on and off the field.”
The players the Kernels will receive in return are outfielder Victor Guerra, bull pen arm Bob Sanderson, prospects pitcher Antonio Coronado, and infielder Alan Williamson. Victor is a 10 year veteran, who can play either corner with a career OPS of .328 and has some power, hitting 23 home runs in the 2036 season with a career 200. We like what Bob can do for us out of the pen. Bob has a career ERA of 3.20. Antonio and Alan are 2 players we hope to see at the ML level in a few seasons.
