Series Recap Kernels vs Nine Des Moines Kernels are coming home to the friendly environment of Patrick D. Tillman Memorial Park to start a 6 game home stand. This is Yellow Springs Nine first visit to the newly named park. Kernels are looking to continue their winning ways as they ended the 2035 season with a 3 game sweep over the Nine.

April 22, 2036 Kernels starter is newly free agent signee Mario Mendez who goes up against Nine left handed veteran Jose Chavez. Kernels struck early with 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Kernels starter, Mario Mendez, turned in an outstanding performance against the Nine resulting in a Kernels win, 4 - 1. Mendez got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 5 hits, striking out 2, no earned runs and walked zero over 7.1 innings. Colt Anderson was called on to finish the game and only allowed 1 run in 1.2 innings pitcher.

April 23, 2036 the Kernels starting pitcher, Patrick Patchett, and bull pen reliever, Yasuhiro Aoki, kept the Nine batters off stride all day allowing only 5 hits all game. Center fielder, Roberto Lopez, was named player of the game. Lopez went 2 for 5 with 1 single and a solo home run shot in the bottom of the third. Kernels went on and shut out the Nine 8 – 0 taking the first 2 games of the series and now looking for a sweep.

April 24, 2036 In front of 37,000 happy fans the Des Moines Kernels are looking for the first sweep of the early 2036 season. Kernels are giving the start to 2-2 Elwood Blues, Nine counter with 1 – 1 Carlos Vale. They struck early with 2 home run from C Cisco Arreola in the bottom of the first. The Nine got to Elwood in the top of the third with 4 runs. Cisco hit his second home run of the game in the bottom of the third. The rest of the game was controlled by the Nine picking up the win at Patrick D. Tillman Memorial Park knocking off the Des Moines Kernels, 9 - 7. Starting pitcher, Carlos Valle, was an essential part of his teams win throwing 97 pitches, allowing three earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 6. Curt Phillips was credited with the save for Nine, his fourth of the season.
