Series Recap Kernels vs Valencia Stars – April 2035
April 8, 2035. The Kernels scored one run in the second inning, one run in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning, one run in the sixth inning, one run in the seventh inning, and one run in the ninth inning. The Kernels scored a total of 6 runs off of 14 hits. The Valencia Stars scored one run in the fifth inning, one run in the seventh inning, and one run in the ninth inning. The Stars scored 3 runs off of 6 hits. The Kernels won 6 to 3 over the Stars. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Ramon Hernandez, earned his first win of the season, going 7 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, and three walks. Hernandez was named the player of the game. Star’s starting pitcher, Petro Struyk, had his second loss of the season, going 5 innings, giving up six hits, four runs, and three walks. Star’s center fielder, Mick Pengilly, was injured while throwing the ball.

Patrick Patchett’s second start of the season was on April 9, 2035. Patrick had everything going his way including great movement on his 3 pitches, the curveball, changeup, and the cutter. He controlled the strike zone by throwing the pitches with pin point accuracy. Patrick threw a total of 101 pitches, 69 for strikes, gave up 3 hits, struck out 3, and collected his first complete game shutout of the 2035 season. After the game Patrick spoke a little about the game saying “When you have an outing like this it comes from a team effort. Catcher, Cisco Arreola, called a great game. Just looked at the game recap, the infielders accounted for 18 ground ball outs, only 5 fly outs, and Cisco threw out Antonio Lara trying to steal second. I also saw the minimum number of batters in 7 of the 9 innings and only 4 batters in the other 2 innings. This win goes to the team. Everyone contributes to it.” Kernels went on to win the game in front of 26,170 fans 3 – 0. All 3 runs came off of home runs, Dong Soo Chon 2 run homer in the top of the second and Cisco solo shot in the top of the 6th.

The Valencia Stars only managed to score one run off of four hits. The Kernels won 7 to 1 over the Stars, sweeping the three game series. Kernel’s starting pitcher, Elwood Blues, earned his first win of the season, going 7.1 innings, giving up five hits, one run, and one walk. Star’s starting pitcher, Zhi-xin Chien, had his first loss of the season, going 2.2 innings, giving up four hits, four runs, and three walks.
