Spring training Recap 2035 Kernels vs Stars
February 26, 2035 This game was a pitching duel, right hand thrower, Ramon Hernandez, was on the bump for the Kernels. Ramon was sharp for his first outing of spring training, throwing a total of 64 pitches, 41 for strikes in 4 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run in the top of the second when Frank Mahaffey went yard, crushing a 434 feet solo home run, walked one, and struck out 4. Robbie Cooke and Colt Anderson combined to shut down the Stars not allowing a run for the rest of the game. Stars pitcher, Petro Struyk, put in a quality 4 innings striking out 8, and walking one Kernels player. Stars bull pen kept the Kernels bats silent till the bottom of the eighth when center fielder, Roberto Lopez, started off the inning with a double. Then Colin West doubled driving Roberto tying up the game. In the bottom of the ninth Stars pitcher, Bob Foster, walked Joao Siva then he advanced to second on a fielder’s choice. Hector Cantu had the game winning hit allowing Joao to score from second. Kernels won the game 2-1 on only five hits.


March 14, 2035 This game was just the opposite from their first meeting. The Kernels struck first and early in the game scoring 4 runs in the top of second and 2 more in the third. Most of the Kernels hits came from the long ball when in the second Colin West hit a 3 run, 354 feet home run. Not to be out done, in the third, first baseman, William Moreland, hit a two run 414 feet screamer to the right field bleachers giving the Kernels a 6 – 0 lead. The Kernels pitching staff handled the Stars, as Elwood Blues went 4 innings, allowing only 2 hits and struck out 3. The bull pen scattered 8 hits and 4 runs. Kernels won the game 6 – 4 and swept the Stars in Spring Training.
