Des Moines General Manager, Ed Murphy, announced the team has completed signing a 3 year contract for 10.7 million with 26 year old second baseman William S,. Hardy. Hardy was a first round draft pick in 2027, worked his way through the minors, and in 2030 earned the starting position at second base. Hardy is a solid infielder with outstanding range and an above average arm. In 2033, Hardy won the BBA FL Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award at 2B playing a total of 1308.2 innings in 150 games, was part of 107 double plays, and committed 7 errors.
I asked a fan waiting to buy season tickets for the 2034 season how they felt about the signing. Eleanor Rigby said “I love it! Hardy makes the team strong up the middle and with Dong-soo Chon at short stop not many balls will make it through the middle. I also like him on the base pads with 69 stolen bases last season. However, I don’t like his free swinging attitude collecting a total 507 strike outs.”
In parting, GM Ed Murphy said, “we are also working with first baseman, William Moreland’s agent and hope to have a contract extension soon.”

That's a nice, tradeable contract for a Diamond Glover, too. His ratings say he should be a better offensive player to me. Head scratching on that part.
