C Terry Pitzer #32 (2061, 3rd round) was promoted in time to start El Paso's last two games of the 2062 season. Pitzer, a switch hitter, went two for eight with an RBI. So there he waits all offseason to play again, as the team has no desire to activate his major league time clock. He started in 32 games at Single A this season, and played double that amount at Double A. He is destined to be the back-up catcher and defensive replacement for Masakado Matsunaga, and the Kernels will have two switch hitters at that position.
In other team news, Portsmouth (76-64) won their division, and then lost 2 games to 1 in the ensuing playoff round against Shreveport (SAN). 20-y.o. José Gonzáles (round 8, 2059) got the win on an 88-pitch effort (6.2 innings). During the season, the Portsmouth offense was led by OF Omar Torres (.269-16-53), and major league hopefuls OF Ricardo Magana (65 POT) and DM local 3B Domingo Pinto (.323-8-33).
