In what will certainly be looked at as another blow for the struggling popcornmen, it was announced that SP Donger Karnes is out for at least 4 weeks with bone chips in his elbow.
Depth in the starting rotation is problem for Des Moines, so this loss will be felt more acutely.
Anthony DeYoung has made the active roster despite just coming off a torn flexor tendon. Once touted as a top ten prospect, its rumored that this injury has severely hampered De Young's command and the Kernels are justifiably worried they may have had one slip through their fingers. DeYoung will start the season in the bullpen taking middle inning relief.
Finally, the Kernels waived veterans C Luis Barrera and P Bobby Lynch. It's like neither player will get picked up either a DFA or outright release is looking like their future.
