On the Lam, 57.5 - Batting Awards

Post by trmmilwwi » Tue Jan 16, 2024 7:09 am

The Outlaws stumbled to a 72-90 record and finished up 7th in the Johnson Frontier Division. The team traded away it’s best player, Big Papi, in early August for prospects and some salary relief. He went on to hit .350 for Twin Cities and pulles in 2+ WAR. With additional salary coming off the books in the next year or two it certainly appears that the rebuild is in full swing. However, there were some decent players trying their best this season. Thus we have the awards.

BEST BATTER

LF Patrick Strolz
There were a few good performances at the plate but Strolz nudged all others for the top honor. The 32 year old veteran left fielder was placed at the top of the order and led the everyday Outlaws in batting average, OBP, slugging and obviously OPS. He slashed .319/24/73 for the year and hit the most homers of his career.

Honorable Mention:

RF Sebastian Fradesso
.295/31/92, 23 SB

TOP ROOKIE

C Paul Hovis
The top rookie performance at the plate was somewhat of a surprise. 24 year old catching prospect Paul Hovis had a rough spring training, batting .190 with only 1 HR, but was called up late in the year when previous backup Trevor Haye completely fell off the map. Hovis had a great September hitting .333 in limited action. For the year he hit .287/8/20 to provide some pop at the plate from the catching position.
