On the Lam, 56.3 - Oh Big Papi, yes please

Big Papi had one heck of a year for the Outlaws.

Others may know him as Majid bin Husam but to those in San Antonio he is just Big Papi. The 29 year old veteran has logged 9 seasons in the BBA and has proven himself as a reliable bat in the middle of the order. Last season he managed to play 161 games, one short of the season maximum, and the goal was to get him all 162 this season. Goal Achieved. Other than his rookie season in which he was called up halfway through the campaign, and the 2053 season in which he suffered a broken elbow and missed from July on, Big Papi has logged 1,117 out of a possible 1,134 games.

Big Papi earned the highest WAR of his career this year with a 5.6 total, besting his previous high of 3.3 way back in 2049. His stat line totaled 39/123/.333, all easily career bests. He earned more walks (78) than he had strikeouts (77), just the second time he has done that. He scored 100 runs on the year and posted a career high 1.008 OPS. Quite simply he was the player that drove the Outlaw’s offense this season. He fared admirably in the field, playing 117 games at 1B posting a 1.002 EFF and a -0.2 ZR.

Big Papi is extremely popular with the Outlaw fans and is signed through the 2058 season. Upper management is already planning on getting him a new deal but there is a few options on the remaining years of his contract which may make things a bit tougher. Everyone in the organization is hoping he plays his entire career for the franchise, similar to Killer (Dexter Sheehan) back in the Birmingham days. Big Papi is already 8th on the career atbats list for the franchise, 37 behind recently departed Billy McKay. He is expected to get to 4th most within the next calendar year.

Sometimes these slow developers kinda work out. That contract could be a huge bargain.
