Pitcher of the Month – Starting Pitcher Sakutaro Kawano
The Outlaws came into the 2055 season with some major free agent upgrades on the positional player side of things as well as some new relief pitchers, but the starting rotation was largely intact from ’54. Kawano is the unquestionable ace and got the ball on opening day against Phoenix. Unfortunately, he started the season off with a loss as the Outlaws lost 6-3. Kawano, however, pitched an awesome game going 7 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits, one of which was a homer. He struck out 9 and walked none. Over the next 5 starts in the month of April he went 4-1 to end the month with a 4-2 record over 6 starts. He pitched 43 innings giving up 36 hits with 32 strikeouts and only 8 walks. He had a 2.30 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. The 5th year pro has a 32-60 career record but that may have more to do with the status of the entire Outlaw club rather than his own talent. Look for a breakout year for the team’s ace.

Position Player of the Month – Catcher Calvin Johnson
The Outlaw offense seemed to be stuck in spring training as they got off to a slow start. The front office decided to play a bunch of minor leagues late into spring training which may have had an effect on the slow start. Regardless, there were a few bright spots. The best performance of April was put together by Catcher Calvin Johnson. He appeared in 27 games, starting 21 of them. He slashed .282/1/8 with 8 walks and 13 strikeouts. He was solid behind the plate getting 14 assist and a double play with only one error. Johnson was a free agent signee in 52’ and has been a key contributor to the Outlaws starting most games behind the dish due to his solid defense. He was recently placed on the trade market since his contract is up and he still has some solid years ahead of him.
