The More Things Change
Another year and another San Antonio Pitcher wins the Steve Nebraska Award. This year, it's none other than 23 yr old Ruben Vazquez that gets to write his name in the BBA record books. This gives the Outlaws back-to-back Nebraska winners, and three in the past four years. Had Aki Kondo not been robbed in '43 the Outlaws would have owned four consecutive Steve Nebraska winners.
"I know our season did not go quite as planned, but through it all Vazquez was an absolute machine on the mound and really showed the metal he is made of. I can't help but smile in my sleep while I am dreaming of Rivera and Vazquez in San Antonio for a long time" GM Calvaruso gushed at the awards banquet.
Ruben was all smile himself and took his time to answer everyone's questions. "I am so very honored to be voted for this award. To have my name alongside. not only, my teammate Ricardo Rivera, but all the other Outlaws and fellow past winners of this award". "I will take some time to celebrate with my teammates and family before i set this trophy on my mantle and begin the grind to return the San Antonio Outlaws to their rightful place as Landis Champion".
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
