SP Melvin Simpson, the #2 rated prospect in the Outlaws system and the 12th overall selection in the 2042 draft, will make his ML debut Thursday against the Phoenix Talons. Simpson was called up to take the spot vacated by the trade of Julio Alicea to Omaha. The original plan was for SP Reid Jensen to be called up to make his ML debut, but went down with a strained forearm in his last start and will miss 2 weeks.
Melvin was excited about getting the call but felt bad for his teammate "I am thrilled to have this moment because this is what all of us work so hard to get. I feel terrible that it comes at Reid's expense though and hope thing's work out where Reid get's another chance to head to San Antonio". Asked about if he will have any butterflies Simpson replied "Hell Yes!".
Simpson draws a tough opening assignment having to face the Talons who are having a very good start to their season and are sitting in 2nd place of the division.
