San Antonio was able to squeak past the New Orleans Crawdads in the Doubleday Round, taking the series 4-2 thanks to a beautiful effort from Ruben Vazquez in gamer 6. Vazquez went 6.2 innings, mowing down Crawdads for 12 K's and only giving up 1 Earned Run to lead the Outlaws in an 8-2 victory.
"We knew it was going to be a tough series and that's what we got" 1B Larry Stinson said at the postgame. "The Crawdads new how To battle and they gave us a good test".
Stinson was outstanding during the whole series going 8-22 for a .364 BA with 3 HR's and 8 RBI's, and winning the JL Doubleday Series MVP Award. The Outlaws also got a strong performance form an unlikely source as CF Mennac Shakes batted .357 with a HR and 2 RBI's. SP Ricardo Rivera was the standout from the pitching side with 14 shutout innings over 2 games with 15 K's and only 2BB's.
Next up will be a huge tangle with Frontier archenemy Edmonton Jackrabbits that should make for an exciting Cartwright Cup.
