What was an unbelievably rough start to his tenure with the Outlaws has started to level out for SP Julio Alicea. A seesaw campaign that has seen a brutal 0-5 record and 7.80 ERA in April followed by a spectacular 4-1 record and 2.41 ERA in May to his current 9-9 record and 5.01 ERA to date.
There is hoe that Alicea is finally settling in and getting ready for a stretch run thanks to a beautiful, complete game shutout of Division leading Calgary on Wednesday. Alicea chewed through the Pioneers yielding 6 Hits while striking out 4 and only needing 91 pitches to complete the victory.
"I didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through" Alicea said after the game. "I trusted my Catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up". Having Julio get into a rhythm would be a huge boost to this Outlaws pitching staff and make an already dangerous team even more so.
