With the first month of the season in the books, it seems like a good time to take a quick pulse of how the newbies on this years San Antonio Outlaws are fairing.

1B Larry Stinson: To have expected this out of Stinson this soon would have been laughed at before the season but here we are. Stinson has proven to be EVERYTHING that the scouts said he would be. He is hitting for average and power and has become a very steady voice in the clubhouse. Great things are coming this guys, and San Antonio's, way.

SS Chip Puckett: Not exactly a newbie to the BBA, but a newbie to San Antonio and boy has he been a star. Not only has he been a competent force at the plate but his defense has been outstanding. Every Pitcher on the team loves him and is grateful to have him here.

2B Tony Gustafsen: Gustafsen may not be the bat that last years second baseman, Quint Coppard, was but damn he makes up for it with some slick fielding. A 1.2 ZR rating and already 18 double plays turned in 30 games, this guy has been a very solid, under the radar, FA signing for San Antonio.
.231 BA .277 OBP .308 SLG 18 Hits 7 RBI's 12 Runs 5 SB's

3B Alfredo Rosas: Talk about an embarrassment of riches, the Outlaws have a star in Lucio Cuellar manning third and now they have Rosas backing him up and more. Rosas is getting the starts at the hot corner versus Lefties and is even doing some backing up at RF. The rookie has responded perfectly, hitting well when he gets his chance and playing impeccable defense.
.333 BA .353 OBP .485 SLG 11 Hits 2 RBI's 3 Runs

LF Wes Savage: Another low cost FA signing, Savage has played some good ball for the Outlaws so far. Making most of his starts in CF while Mennac Shakes fights through some minor injuries, Savage has held things down nicely. He will continue to get starts all over the outfield and will be a vital cog this year for SA.
.235 BA .301 OBP .382 SLG 24 Hits 13 RBI's 13 Runs 5 SB's

SS Bob Allen: A Rule 5 gem, Allen has been a welcome surprise at The Tap Room. Not a lot of opportunities so far but yo can tell he isn't scared up there.

Buckle up folks, it's gonna be one hell of a ride to the Landis
