Breaking Down the 2042 Lineup

Good Morning sports fans, as we sit here on the eve of another season in BBA baseball, it seems appropriate that we systematically breakdown the 2042 San Antonio Outlaws lineup and see what lies in store for us at The Tap Room.

1:Image
SS Chip Puckett: Newly acquired SS, Chip Puckett, will begin the year at the top of the lineup for the Outlaws. This is a position that Lucio Cuellar has been inhabiting but Manager Ralph Parker thought it would be better to take advantage of Puckett's better OBP.

2: Image
3B Lucio Cuellar: Cuellar has been a beast at the top of the lineup for San Antonio, but the addition of Puckett pushes him down to the #2 slot. This should result in more RBI opportunities without hurting his ability to rack up the SB's.

3: Image
LF Valentin Fritas: Fritas has been an exceptional player for the Outlaws and last year was nearly unstoppable. His excellent Contact rate coupled with his excellent Gap Power should play beautifully from the 3 hole. Having the like sf Puckett and Cuellar in front of him should prove to be an RBI bonanza for Fitas.

4: Image
1B Tony Hernandez: The "Big Stick" in the lineup again this year will fall to 1B Hernandez. He missed some time last year with a couple nagging injuries but should be back on track for double digit HR's and triple digit RBI's in 2042.

5: Image
DH Long Chamberlain III: "Ding Dong" had an uneventful spring, but has some pop and is a switch hitter giving the Outlaws coaches some flexibility in their lineup. Don't be surprised if this spot is experimented with early but Chamberlain gets first crack at it.

6: Image
C Octavio Moreno: Moreno "struggled" last year with a .233 BA, but still had 16 dingers and 71 RBI's. This spring he came to camp in better shape and has been tearing the cover off the ball. Solidly entrenched as the #1 Catcher, many in the organization are frothing at the mouth to see what Moreno can do this year.

7: Image
RF Abdelwahab Kamade: Kamade returns to RF from last year and brings veteran leadership and an solid bat in the back half of the lineup.

8: Image
CF Wes Savage: Signed to give last years starter Mennac Shakes some competition and as some insurance in CF and he sure has taken advantage. A great spring, coupled with a subpar one from Shakes, has given Savage the opportunity to begin the year as the starter in CF, at least versus RH Pitchers. Shakes is still only 21and needs to learn how to adjust to how the pitchers attack him this season.

9: Image
SS Tony Gustafsen: What a spring it has been for Gustafsen. Started out being signed to be Miguel Padilla's backup, he now sits as the starter at 2B and Padilla is not even in the picture. A solid veteran on the field and a true leader in the clubhouse, Gustafsen has a chance to shine without having to carry a team on his shoulders. The fact that he's a vacuum cleaner on defense helps alot.

So there you have it folks, this years starting nine for San Antonio. An exciting mix of young and old, power and speed, and all of them hungry to take a bite out of the playoff apple.

Not a bad lineup at all … 1 through 4, in fact, is pretty much beast mode. You'll score some runs with this group.
