September Call-Ups

As the season enters it's last month of the regular season, BBA teams have the chance to make their September call-ups. Some teams call up guys who can help secure their playoff hopes down the stretch, some teams make call-ups of guys they are hoping to get a look at and see if they have the chance to help them next year, and some teams call up guys because the current players on the roster suck so bad that the GM say "like they could do any worse".

Your San Antonio Outlaws fall somewhere in-between option 2 and 3 so lets take a look at who got the call.

ImageP Ramon Sanchez: Ramon is no relation, we think, to newly hired Bench Coach Antonio Sanchez but it probably wouldn't matter anyway. Ramon has been a Starter in the minors, but has been used strictly as a reliever in the bigs. His lack of a third pitch seems to place him as a true bullpen guy but he will be given a chance to start some games down the stretch. Look for Sanchez to go through the RP conversion this offseason.

ImageP Francisco Cardona: Cardona is a guy that the club wishes would get a bump this offseason. A smart guy that has 3 solid pitches and decent Movement but just lacks a little stuff could become a real nice back end rotation guy with a little help from the baseball gods. there is also the possibility they he too, goes through the RP conversion this offseason.

ImageP Luis Pasillas: the 2033, 4th round selection is seeing his first ever time in the majors with the Coaches and GM excited to see what he can bring to the table in 2041. He still has a little growing to do but he is someone that will be looked at quite heavily for a rotation spot next season.

Image2B Quint Coppard: Coppard was actually called up last month When Suarez went down and Juan Gonzales continued to struggle. Gonzales will not be back in San Antonio and there is questions surrounding 2B for 2041. Is Coppard capable? Do we look for FA help? or is Juan Feliciano ready to take the next step?

ImageSS Ernie Ramos: After a cup of coffee from Shaun Emmott, Ramos was promoted to see if he had the stuff to make the trade with Montreal worth the effort. Ramos is probably more suited for 2B, and may very well end up there next season, but with nothing else going for the club at SS it seems like a natural fit for the time being.

ImageRF Troy Spargo: A scouting discovery back in 2035 from Australia, the tall, rangy outfielder has some intriguing qualities. Decent defensive capabilities, great speed and a fantastic Work Ethic. Spargo will be another one to watch for next season.

ImageDH Juan Ramos: A 6th round pick in 2034, Ramos doesn't really do anything fancy, he just goes about doing his job day in and day out. This was smore about a reward for being a quality teammate that always gives his all and never quits. With Kojo having a horrible year, who knows maybe he can make some noise and put his name in the hat for next year.

ImageCF Roberto Vega: Every year it seems that SS and CF are always at a premium since good defenders are in short supply. Vega doesn't appear to have the hitting tools to succeed at this level but he definitely has the glove, and at only 22 does have a chance for a bump or two. This is a chance to see if we can make that bump happen and turn Vega into a viable option for 2041.

Too bad Sanchez's changeup hasn't developed more - he would be a very interesting SP with just a bit more on that third pitch. Cardona looks like he could be useful at the back end of the rotation ... you've got a few guys there who are worth a good look!

Actually, fe develops just a bit more and you have Sánchez coming out of the pen, you’ve upgraded your staff nicely from within. You could do worse!
