The Outlaws Chronicles 2039-8 Where Are They Now, Vol 3

Post by bigmike13 » Wed Jul 24, 2019 2:35 pm

2013:

Ted "Gallows" Zepplein

For my music fans, we have the slightly altered Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Synyrd. Showing my age, these guys still have some of the best music out there.

Ted’s BBA career was, how shall I put this, non existent. I was able to draft him and he even grabbed a cup of coffee with Birmingham in 2018, playing in 5 games and never sniffing the BBA again.

Ted retired in 2027, moved back to London and took up Interpretive Dance

Regular Season BBA Stats:
W	L	SV	ERA	G	GS	IP	ER	K	BB	WHIP	WAR
1	1	0	8.10	5	3	16.2	15	10	12	2.22	-0.3

Leonard "Free Bird" Skinard

Wow, two duds in a row. “Free Bird” was only slightly better than “Gallows”, appearing in 10 big league games back in 2020. He retired in 2025 and sadly died in a plane crash on his way back to his home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Regular Season BBA Stats:

2014:

Here is where I go on my Westerns tirade. One of my all time favorite westerns is 3:10 to Yuma. The original was made in 1957 with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin playing the lead characters. A remake was done in 2007 with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale that was very good also. The premise of the movie is Rancher Dan Evans has agreed to guard outlaw Ben Wade in town until the 3:10 train to Yuma Territorial Prison arrives and having to fight odd Wades outlaws buddy’s the whole time. The backdrop is 1880’s Arizona before it became a state.

Ben Wade
Keeping with theme of busted players, Wade did nothing during his career appearing in 49 games over two season’s between two clubs, one of them being my Birmingham Bandits.

Regular Season BBA Stats:

1	8	9	5.17	49	0	55.2	27	55	28	1.56	-0.1

Charlie Prince

In the movie(s), Ben Wades right hand man is Outlaw Charlie Prince. Just a cool ass name. Prince had a serviceable career in the BBA lasting 11 seasons from 2019 to 2030. Charlie retired in 2033 and moved back to Yuma, Arizona where he became a train conductor for Union Pacific Railroads.

Regular Season BBA Stats:

2015:

Yes, back on the Westerns. Tully Crow was a character, played by the great Lee Marvin, in the John Wayne classic "The Comancheros" in 1961. One of the other movie characters was none other than our second entry, Paul Regret played by Stuart Whitman. The story is too long to go into here but it was an excellent flick.

Tully Crow

Crow made a name for himself with injuries as much as his superb play. He lasted 16 seasons in the bigs and had a very nice career. He was an All Star in in 2027 and won 2 Landis Trophies in 2031 and 2033 with Jacksonville. He was a big game pitcher and excelled on the big stage proven by his postseason stats. If he hadn’t spent about 40 months on the DL in his career he could have been unbelievable. Crow just recently retired in 2037 and is currently on the HOF ballot.

He lives with his Wife and two kids in Little Rock, Arkansas and makes guest appearances at local sports shops.

Regular Season BBA Stats:
W	L	SV	ERA	G	GS	IP ER	K	BB	WHIP	WAR

9	7	0	3.08	19	19	120.0	41	94	16	0.97	2.3

Paul Regret

Not as prolific as Tully, but Paul had a decent career for himself. He lasted 14 season, from 2018 to 2031, and was a solid starter for multiple clubs. A 2019 Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award winner at 3B, he made his living off his glove.

Paul retired in 2034 and moved back to Louisiana. He lives in Covington, LA just across Lake Ponchartrain from New Orleans and owns 4 car dealerships

Skynyrd doesn't get enough credit.

"Tuesday's Gone With the Beer" was a staple of my college days.
