The San Antonio Outlaws might not have made it to the Landis, but 22yr old SP Yrrigs Carpenter made good use of his second full season in the majors, taking home the coveted JL Steve Nebraska Golden Arm Award for 2038.
Carpenter was on fire most of the year, finishing 2038 with an 18-6 record and a league leading 2.70 ERA. Carpenter also led the league in WHIP with a beautiful 1.03 and averaged 1 K per inning. "I am grateful for the award, but it would have been better to hoist the Landis trophy" Yrrigs said at his press conference. "I look forward to next season so the team and I can continue to build on this success and go deeper in to the playoffs".
