Outlaws Move Gil
With a season going nowhere, it became clear that dealing expendable assets was on the agenda when trade week came around.
First to knock on the door was Las Vegas, who was in need of some Outfield depth, with their sight set on defensive wizard CF Miguel Gil. The Outlaws had high hopes for Gil when they acquired him Havana in 2032 for Robert Gowron. "We place an emphasis on defense here in San Antonio, and Gil gave us stellar defense in all three outfield positions, that is something rare to find in the league", GM Calvaruso said at the press conference.
IN exchnage for Gil, the Outlaws receive minor league 1B Jose Valenzuela. The 18 year old the Dominican Republic looks to have the skills to eventually make a contribution to the big club. He currently shows average Contact ratings, with very good Gap Power. He may never be considered a power bat but on base ability is sometimes far more important than power.
Gil leaves the Outlaws after 3-1/2 years with a career .232 BA and 279 Hits in 1200 AB's. His best year came in 2035 with a .244 BA, 126 Hits, 10 HR's 24 SB's, 47 RBI's and 54 Runs Scored and a +3.3 ZR factor in CF.
