Tonche Sent to Omaha

Well, the Outlaws hung on for a while but the last couple of sims have officially sealed the fate of the 2036 squad. A 7-19 record in July and a 3-8 to start August has given GM Calvaruso much needed clarity to how the rest of the year will go and how he will approach the coming trade deadline.

With a few quality options available of other squads to consider, it will be open house from here on out and the first shoe has already dropped. SP Jesus Tonche, a mid season pickup from Wichita last season has been shipped to Omaha for the reaminder of 2036. Tonche performed well after the trade from Wichita giving the Outlaws 17 starts and going 5-7 with a 3.93 ERA.

Tonche was always considered to be a rental for the Outlaws, but the way he pitched for them down the stretch in 2035 did give GM Calvaruso something to think about heading into the new season. Those thoughts were quickly erased as Tonche struggled out the gate and never recovered holding a 3-10 record and 5.57 ERA at the time of the swap.

In return, the Outlaws snag a promising Outfielder named Pedro "Tornado" Hernandez. The 20 yr old from Rio Alejandro, Panama is rough around the edges, but has a very intriguing skill set. Adequate Contact and Power potential and very good wheel on the basepaths give Hernandez a base to grow form. WHile he currently does not stand out in any area there is enough talent to believe he could, at the vaery least, become a useful bench bat in the future.

Hernandez looks like he'll play a bit no matter what, and if he bumps much at all, he could be a impact kind of guy. Not a bad pick-up overall.

Though, seriously, Omaha didn't need another pitcher.

He has some potential and you never know when you are going to get a nice bump. I sure was hoping Tonche would pitch like he did during the back end of last year and made himself more valuable, but that's the breaks.
