The Outlaws Chronicles 2036-7 Draft Update
Outlaws Take Two
The Outlaws went into the 2036 draft with two picks in the top 13, and 5 picks in the first 100, and come out of day one with a pair of solid talents.
With the 7th overall pick, thanks to sucking hind tit in 2035, the Outlaws found themselves with one of the top arms in the draft in SP Fernando Moran. The 6'6" Panamanian Right Hander was graded with some of the best overall Stuff in the draft. Moran offers a 4 Pitch mix with a Fastball currently topping out at 91 mph. A Groundball pitcher with exceptional Work Ethic and considered by everyone to be highly Intelligent and coachable. Moran could fly through the organization if everything falls just right.
Just a few hours later GM Calvaruso couldn't believe his eyes when CF Dax Norris, considered by many to be a top ten talent, fell in his lap at #13. A true Centerfielder, Norris has tremendous speed and the makings of an upper tier bat, even offering considerable power from his 5'8" frame. The Gatesville, Texas native fills a tremendous hole in the organizations depth with no other true CF in the minors.
GM Calvaruso was obviously all smiles at the press conference. "We couldn't be more excited with the talent we were able to draft today. A top tier SP AND an exceptional bat at a need position. We have gone through some rough times the last couple years and seen our fair share of injuries, but days like today make the pain just a little less"
With 2 picks in day 2, expect more fireworks from the Outlaws scouting staff.

Like your picks, but have to respectfully disagree when you say Dax Norris is a true centerfielder. He's not good enough to be a long term solution there, but he'll be a helluva leftfielder.

im with recte on this one, he looks like a really good LF but I dont think the arm will play in center.

Re: The Outlaws Chronicles 2036-7 Draft Update
One thing I've noticed in my tenure in this league is that there is a distinct line in the sand when it comes to CF defense. A lot of GM's feel it's necessary to have at least x range, x error, and x arm. Others are more liberal. I don't want to say they disregard CF defense, more like they weigh offensive production into the equation.
I've kinda been on both sides. I really want a great defensive CF, but through most of my Brooklyn tenure have come up short in finding one. Either they are unavailable or they lump shortly after I acquire them. So I've often put guys out there that I'd rather not. Just like anything, I think there is a balance that could make someone like Dax work or not work. If you have 12 extreme groundball pitchers, an 8/6/6 CF might be good enough. Especially if he ends up being 9/9/9/4/8. But if you put that same 8/6/6 guy in CF on a flyball staff and 6/7/5/6/5 offense. That's not going to work out very well for you. .

I agree, but I have to pump it up a little bit for the local press

shoot, if he actually is a 9/9/9/4/8 hitter you could play him at SS.

Moran looks like the good kind of 17 year old pitcher to draft. Very well developed.

9/9/9/4/8 with at least workable defense can play for me wherever the hell he wants.
