Outlaws Invite Ten

On the eve of the start of Spring Training, the San Antonio Outlaws invited ten minor leaguers to experience their first taste the big league camp.
Getting their big club cherries popped are;

SP Yrrigs Carpenter
SP Marcos Lopez
SP Mubale Petiri
SP Fernand Richard
RP Manny Berrera
CL Octavio Vega
1B Albert Carrasco
1B Manuel Nunez
RF Cipriano Martinez
DH Andy Seekins

Most are in to be evaluated on their progress through the Outlaws farm system, but a few big names have an out side chance of sticking around when camp breaks.

Obviously SP Yrrigs Carpenter is the biggest name of them all. The #1 prospect in the Outlaws system and the #1 overall Pitching prospect in BBA. Yriggs has made some significant strides over the last couple of years and the scary part is that at 19 yr old he has even more room to grow. With the Outlaws looking to be short a true Ace pitcher, it will be very important to see if GM Calvaruso and Manager Edgar Morales can fight the urge to bring him up. Odds are he goes down and then gets re-evalutaed June 1st so they don't lose that free agency year.

1B Albert Carrasco is a very intriguing name to follow this spring. The winner of the 2035 RHML GL Platinum Stick Award at 1B and the Steve Garvey Jr Batter Award in AAA brings some options to the table. With the Outlaws sure to lose 1B Dan Leonard after this year the coaching staff will be watching Carrasco very closely to see if he is ready to make Leonard a bench player. Carrasco brings loads of power potential and a decent eye at the plate.

RF Cipriano Martinez looks to be about a year away but stranger things have happened in spring training. While he may never be super star he does bring above average tools and a surprising clubhous presence from someone so young. Another future leader for the Outlaws.

DH Andy Seekins has nothing left to prove in the minor leagues for San Antonio. Seekins brings bigtime power, and while he could play the outfield in a pinch, he would create far more value from a DH role. Of the ten current invitees, Seekins has the highest probability of breaking camp with the big boys and beginning his major league career.

You can easily justify keeping Carpenter down purely due to the fact that he's missing some development...but yes, he's probably already capable of competing pretty well now.
