The Outlaw Chronicles 2035-6 New Faces

Outlaws Sign FA's

The San Antonio Outlaws continued their shopping spree with the signing of 4 ML Free Agents and 4 International Amateurs.

The Outlaws signed 1B Dan Leonard, SP Alberto Sanchez, RP Flint Colbert and 2B Mario Murillo from the Major League FA pool to contracts.

1B Dan Leonard has spent his entire career in Calgary and many fans didn;t believe that he would be pryed away from the team from the North. Since Leonard has little power he doesn't fit into a typical corner fielder spot, but he has great bat skills and brilliant defense at First. Leonard maintains a high OBP and chips in with high double digit steals. "We are just looking to get guys on this team that can put the ball in play and get on the base paths" GM Calvaruso stated during the press conference.

SP Alberto Sanchez is another long time veteran spending 10 years in Yellow Springs before being traded at the deadline to Huntsville. At 35, Sanchez is on the downhill side of his career but he should be able to provide some quality innings at the back of the rotation.

RP Flint Colbert is a name synonymous with quality and the Outlaws are hoping he can continue those same ways. Getting up in years and starting to come down with the injury bug, he still has some life left in his arm and brings a high level of intelligence to the pitching staff.

2B Mario Murillo was picked up as a backup/insurance policy for the Outlaws until INF Pedro Suarez is deeme dready for the bigs. While he won't wow you with his hitting ability he does posses 20+ Home Run power which would play well from a bench role.

The Outlaws also signed SP Juan Padilla, SP Tomas Guerra, SP Francisco Rojas and 3B Charley Berkel from the International Amateur pool.

SP Juan Padilla is 16 yr old Lefty from Mexico. He offers a standard 3 pitch mix of Fastball, Curveball and Splitter and currently tops the radar guns at 88 MPH.
SP Tomas Guerra is a 16 yr old Lefty out of Venezuela. He comes with a four pitch arsenal but non of them are looking that good.
SP Francisco Rojas is a 16 yr old out of Puerto Rico. Rojas has the makeup of a relief arm but needs alot of TLC to get there.
3B Charley Berckel is a 16 yr old from Belgium. Belgium is a known hotspot for baseball players. A good looking 3B prospect with good Power and Contact potential. He seems to have the glove to stay at 3B but as he fills out he may move to 1B.

The Outlaws continue to look to strengthen their Major League club as well as their affiliates whenever possible.

He will be a good influence cause he brings good Work Ethic to the team. Last year half the team was mad due to slackers and selfish players.

I’ll be watching Leonard on his quest for 3000. If you tire of him, let me know

Sanchez may well be a YS9 HoF guy when he's done. He had some great years for us.
