2061.4 Ferrell enjoys success

Post by handaspencer » Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:30 am

2061 has been a season of great success for a lot of people in Omaha. We entered the season with very little expectations and everyone just relaxed and played ball and we have enjoyed success. Among those who have enjoyed great success this season is closer Dave Ferrell who is enjoying an all star season. Ferrell was selected to his 5th all star game as a reliever with Omaha but it has been 3 seasons since he was at his last all star game in 2058. It just feels good to return back to elite form this season where I have felt I have always belonged.

Entering his final year under his current contract with Omaha there was a lot of talk in the BBA universe what was Omaha going to do with Ferrell. GM Spencer said I received lots of inquiries into Ferrell many folks wanted to trade for him. Ferrell does have a full no trade clause with Omaha and he is making it well known he wants to remain in Omaha. We had been talking to Ferrell for awhile on a contract extension and we agreed on a 3 year 18 million dollar extension to keep Ferrell in Omaha. He is a local favorite who has put on the Omaha uniform for the past 10 seasons. He is someone the fans can really connect with GM Spencer said.

Ferrell is 2-2 with 22 saves so far and has an ERA of 3.29. Ferells k/9 rate is 10.5 the highest in his career. In addition his BB/9 is at a healthy level and his ERA+ is at 139 with a FIP of 2.45. It feels good to be able to return to the mound with high confidence again Ferrell said. I just want to make this an 8 inning game, if we are leading after 8 I just want to close the door. Ferrell currently ranks #43 all time in career saves in the BBA with 324 saves. I feel like I have a lot of saves still in the tank Ferrell said and I would love to finish top 25 all time in career saves. It feels good to get the contract situation out of the way and I know where I will be for the next few seasons and I can just focus on pitching.

Ferell believes this current club is going to provide many save opportunities for him going forward. This team is tough and scrappy one of the funnest teams I have been a part of to be honest. We are a roster full of guys who keep their nose clean and show up to do their job and leave it at that. I will admit the past couple seasons of losing has been tough but with us winning again it just gives you an extra push and it's a blast to be competing for the playoffs again Ferrell said. I would love to be in postseason baseball again Ferrell said, it's been a few years and I miss it. Hopefully I can provide leadership to our younger guys that will allow us to return to postseason baseball.
