Omaha returns to postseason, falls short in Niles’s front office return. What's next? (57.01)

After finishing 2056 with an 86-76 record, the lowest since 2052, The Omaha Cyclones returned to the post-season in 2057 with a 91-71 showing in what was front office GM Justin Niles’s return after a short hiatus in the 2056 season. While the reason for the hiatus has not been publicly commented on, the overall feeling is that Niles is back in Omaha long term.

With Niles at the helm, the Cyclones have now made the playoffs in 14 out of the last 24 seasons, with one elusive title in 2046. Niles has as lifetime 2375-2249 record in the BBA since the tail end of 2030, when he took over the then Indy Grasshoppers prior to their arrival to Omaha.

With Niles back at the helm in what appears to be a full time role, many around the league are waiting to see what his first “big move” is, as Niles has a history of not only making trades, but signing some big term contracts. The most memorable contract may be the contract given to Aki Kondo in 2043. A 6-year deal worth as much as $221,000,000. Obviously that contract was not guaranteed with several options involved, and Kondo actually ended up being traded the very next off-season to Phoenix in a deal that brought in Takashi Nakamura just to name the main piece that turned into a rotation anchor.

What’s next for Omaha? Everybody appears to be wondering the same thing.
