Omaha goes 2-2 in Arbitration(55.21)

While Omaha has routinely agreed to contract extensions with the majority of its players prior to entering arbitration, they did have a few players that they were not able to come to terms with. Now, after the arbitration hearings, it’s possible the players wish they had come to the table more.

Omaha went 2 for 2 this year in arbitration hearings, saving precious cap space, and clearly having a better understanding of the players “value” than what the player believed.

After a 396 at bat season in 2055, where Amid Kasim hit 23 home runs, but managed just a .215 batting average(still good for a 103 OPS+), the arbitrator agreed that Kasim was worth the $2,870,000 that Omaha had submitted. Kasim had entered a demand of $3,063,200.

Backup catcher Heui seong Park spent most of the year in AAA last year, only accumulating 136 plate appearances. His glove did the work for him, as despite a 67 OPS+, he still had a 0.7 WAR while in AAA. While Park may end up being a DFA and release candidate as the season comes closer, right now he will earn $1,200,000 after the arbitrator sided with the team. Park had demanded $1,359,600.
