Omaha announces Timo Dooley will join Single-A Mankato as their pitching coach.(55.18)

With the announcement from Timo Dooley that he was officially hanging up his cleats, the team announced that he will immediately begin work at Single-A Mankato as the team's pitching coach. Dooley, who is 36 years old, will make $60,000 for the next 2 years. That of course is in addition to the nearly $22,000,000 the team will pay him over the next 5 years for releasing him mid-season last year.

“We are honored to welcome Timo back to mentor and help develop our farm system after just a short time away.” Said Omaha GM Justin Niles. “This was always the plan. As some of you might remember, it’s not like we sent Timo a text saying we were releasing him. This was a joint effort, with plans for him to retire at the end of the year, and rejoin our organization in some capacity.”

For his playing career he finished with 194 wins (1st in team history), a 4.03 ERA, 1,811 strikeouts and a career war of 47.3 over 3,031 innings(1st in team history).

"It's an honor to have Timo join our staff. To know that our kids will be learning from one of the best to ever take the mound for this organization is truly unthinkable. I think the writing it on the wall that Timo eventually will be a big league coach, so I am just going to enjoy him while we have him in Mankato." said Mankato manager Dai-Lin Chin.
