Omaha adds Rangel just as pitching staff gets back to full strength.(2053.6)

Good news on the mound this week as Timo Dooley is back healthy again after missing the past 6 weeks, in addition to Haravira Chandar returning in the next week from a sore elbow. The club is going to need those two to remain healthy if they are hoping to continue their pace atop the Heartland division.

In related news, the club announced a $1,000,000 agreement with reliever Fernando Rangel. Rangel last pitched in the BBA in 2047, but apparently the club thinks he has gas left in the tank.

“Fernando is one of those low risk/high reward type guys. We have some money available to move around, so if he doesn’t work out, it shouldn’t hurt us terribly.” Said Omaha GM Justin Niles.

In a related move, Omaha has waived Carlos Mata, who has struggled this season in the bullpen. He has been with the organization his entire career and has pitched 48 innings in the bigs, with last year being his most successful, having a 3.00 ERA in 20 appearances. This year, his 7.27 ERA left much to be desired.

Despite all the issues Omaha has experienced on the mound, they rank 7th in Starters ERA, 4th in bullpen ERA, and 5th overall in ERA with a 3.95 overall ERA. They are allowing the 5th least runs in the league, 3rd least amount of hits, and have the 2nd lowest BABIP thanks to some great defensive. In retrospect, the team's ERA last year was 4.52 and the year before 5.15.
