James Monger officially cleared out his locker last week as his time with the only franchise he has known for his professional career appears to be over.

Drafted in the first round of the 2033 draft, Omaha selected Monger with the second overall pick. 55.9 career WAR later, which is second all-time on the team’s leaderboard, leaves the team with no regrets. Monger is the all-time Brewster leader in career home runs (454), runs batted in (1309), and total bases (4,471) for his second base position.

Omaha GM Justin Niles on James Monger:
“Something James wasn’t accredited for as much was his leadership, loyalty, work ethic and intelligence. He was a true clubhouse leader for us. He became a very good friend of the family. James was one of the last players out here signing autographs after every home game. He stayed until he made sure every fan who wanted one had an autograph and a picture. I am not sure what his playing plans are for next season, but the second he hangs it up, he knows he has a job waiting in our organization. ”
Monger currently is in free agency with rumors that he is searching for a $1.8M guaranteed deal at the age of 40 coming off a season where he posted a negative WAR for the first time in his 19-year career.
