Today, the club took one step further into the ground in the eyes of fans after an email was leaked by an anonymous member of the organization that showed the club was ready to give up and go all in on a rebuild. That document, seen in its entirety below appears to be from Omaha GM Justin Niles.
Hey all,
Obviously things are going as we planned in Omaha, with many injuries and players that simply weren’t performing at the same time. Despite having a better last few games, we’re ready to move onto next season. With that being the case, we are open to offers on the majority of our guys. The only guys we aren’t entertaining offers on are:
SP Timo Dooley
CF Orlando Ordonez
LF Eric Wagner
OF Du Wu
SP Takishi Nakamura
Obviously, those are the expected ones, but obviously we still have some value on the block. There aren’t many hitting shortstops who can field the way that Luis Pena can. We won’t be giving him away, as we would welcome him back with open arms next year on his sweetheart deal. The same can be said for Esteban Cruz, who has performed well for us in the rotation.
Most others are available, including Sloth, who is still trying to put it all together behind the plate. Obviously Ly & Estrada are available as well if you can afford them with the salary cap the way it is. I’d entertain taking back some salary, that was preferably off the books at the end of the year if need be. While we tried to give Ly & Estrada away on waivers for essentially nothing, that doesn’t mean we can’t afford them. We certainly aren’t entertaining retaining any of their money on our books as that money becomes “dead” as soon as we do, meaning we can’t get it off our cap number.
Anyhow, for those interested, please reach out. Best of luck to those teams still competing this season.
Justin
