Ordonez, Monger both pass Morales on team’s career WAR leaderboard.(2051.15)

Orlando Ordonez has been with the club since signing as an international free agent way back at the age of 16. Now, at age 31, he finds himself listed as the top player for the entire franchise. At least, if you base that on career wins above replacement.

As the 2051 season concludes for Omaha, Ordonez posted 4.8 WAR this season, giving him 56.9 WAR for his career which has spanned 7,655 at bats. Emilio Morales finished just last with an even 56 WAR thanks to several seasons with negative WAR, but nonetheless, Ordonez is now at the top at the ripe age of just 31. He has potential to top 70 WAR if he can continue at this current pace. Ordonez is sitting at 451 career home runs, 465 stolen bases, so he has a chance to reach the elusive 500/500 club.

Not to be left out, James Monger was the team career WAR leader this season for a short time, as he is up to 56.1 WAR, just 0.1 points ahead of Emilio Morales. Monger is age 38 and is likely winding his career down after appearing in a career low 87 games last season, and only finding 285 at bats. He did still post an OPS+ of 105, but began to struggle on the field this season, posting a -2.2 ZR in 26 games at second base.

For now, though, the memories and “spotlight” on Hall of Famer Emilio Morales is starting to fade as Orlando Ordonez and James Monger have turned the spotlight on themselves as two of the team's best all-time players begin to wind down their journey, having spent their entire careers in Omaha.
