Rich Jacobs pitched exclusively in the back end role for Omaha in 2047, appearing in 30 games and having a 1.31 ERA over 41 innings before succumbing to a season ending injury. He was in the rotation last year, starting 32 games with a 3.52 ERA for the club.“We feel that our starting depth is so good right now, especially after we added Goodchild this off-season, that it just wouldn’t make sense to not have them all in the rotation.” Said Omaha manager William Cole. “We dabbled with potentially having one be a lockdown multi inning stopper for the end of games, but just decided the additional rest between days on the mound would be better for us. Obviously, this is an ever-changing landscape and not something we're committed to forever, but right now it makes the most sense for our club. I think it is also going to give us a bit of flexibility, with a few lefties in the rotation, and the extra body in general, if a team hits righties very well but struggles against lefties, we might be able to move some things around easier to line it up to have our lefties face them."
So, with the 6-man rotation, it appears that it is set as the following, with the player's 2048 final statistics in parentheses.
Timo Dooley(13-12, 4.12 ERA)
Mike Alexander(13-0, 3.29 ERA)
Norio Hayashi(14-13, 4.36 ERA)
Gary GoodChild(3-8, 4.96 ERA in UMEBA)
Rich Jacobs(9-14, 3.52 ERA)
Jorge Hernandez(17-9, 3.83 ERA)
