Well, this seems a bit odd to be writing, but I am hearing reports from internal sources that tell me that Emilio Morales and Omaha are set to announce a contract extension for what most consider the face of the franchise.

I wouldn’t be as shocked to be typing such a thing if a few things weren’t true. First, Morales is 36 years old which means usually extensions come far and few between as most players are thinking of hanging up their cleats around this time. Second, Morales is still signed for 2 more seasons already!

He has $9,600,000 owed to him in 2047 and another $8,600,000 owed in 2048 when he will be almost 39 years old.

I get it. He is the face of the Cyclones, Hawks, Grasshoppers. Whatever you want to call them. However, that face was making a cringe last season to the tune of NEGATIVE 1.1 WAR. That’s Morales first negative WAR season of his career and his 61 OPS+ obviously is rock bottom from his 8 consecutive seasons in the 2030’s of dominance.

Omaha might be sitting and grinning coming off their first ever championship season, but apparently they haven’t stopped drinking to be considering a contract extension for Morales. There isn’t a word as to how long the rumored extension is, but it obviously will put Morales into his 40’s in a Cyclone uniform.

This will put him through 40. Hopefully he hangs it up afterwards. Otherwise my pride might get in the way. I was surprised to see his "reasonable" contract demand for his 1 year extension. If you consider anything reasonable for a negative war guy
