2046 draftee Alexander to make BBA debut next week.(46.09)

Mike Alexander didn’t have to wait long in the minor leagues to get the call, as the 2046 first round pick for the Cyclones is officially heading to the show, the Cyclones Twitter feed announced earlier today.

The club announced that Terrence Kelly is dealing with back tightness and will miss a start or two. Kelly, who has been a very nice surprise this season after being acquired from Long Beach in March, has a 3.49 ERA this season over 123 innings, coming in nearly a full run below his career best in his rookie season back in 2043.

The 20-year-old Alexander started in AA ball this year after being selected 29th overall in the amateur draft, but only made 8 starts at the AA level. In AA, Alexander had a 2.55 ERA over 49 innings, and an impressive 8.4/2.2 K/BB ratio. In AAA, he has a 1.91 ERA over 5 starts but has watched his K/BB ratio shrink a bit to 7.0/4.4.

It’s not known at this time how long Alexander will remain in the rotation or whether he will be sent back to AAA when Kelly returns.

Alexander is set to take the ball in his BBA debut against the Chicago Black Sox on the road next Wednesday, August 15th.
