Not everything is rosy in Omaha right now as their franchise cornerstone player is beginning to show his age. Emilio Morales must have napped the entire first two months of the season, something not usual with others his age.
Not only has he been a slouch at the plate with his .210/.265/.365 triple slash and 5, yes just 5 home runs, but he also appears to not be so quick over at what they call the hot corner. Morales has 6 errors already in just 105 chances leaving him with a -0.7 ZR and a .961 eff rating. Morales had 8 errors last season in 346 chances so this is a bit concerning. Let’s not ignore he won a Diamond Glove last season at third base?
Anyhow back to his plate appearances, his .362 slugging percentage is nearly half his output from his “hey day” back in 2037 when he was mashing 64 home runs out of the park in a season. Morales has slumped down to the 100 or so wRC+ spot the past 3 years which is where we need desperately him this season. Currently his wRC+ is 60 so about 50% less output than what we need right now or were expecting.
Morales was expected by many to reach 700 home runs in his career and potentially challenge Kengo's for the home run record, but now some in Omaha have him written off with less than 650.
Just a reminder, Morales has 3 years remaining on his deal in Omaha, which could be a long 3 seasons if Morales isn’t earning even his $28,000,000 owed those 3 seasons.
Someone wake up Morales from his siesta.(45.10)

Would be a tough contract to trade, especially if he's not hitting. A team that needs the FI bump might be interested.
