The series against the Chicago Black Sox couldn’t have gone much better for Omaha, after not only completing a quick sweep to move onto the next series, but doing so while having to tire out a bullpen.

The Cyclones used just 5 pitchers in total over the 27 innings against Chicago.

Timo Dooley pitched a complete game, 3 hit shutout to start the series before handing the ball to Aki Kondo in game 2. Kondo, only lasted 8 innings, allowing a home run against Chicago. Entrusted with finishing off the series was Norio Hayashi who began the season as Omaha’s closer. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 5 earned runs before handing the ball off to his replacement closer in Raul Gonzalez.

All in all, the duo of Patrick Whitlock and Raul Gonzalez pitched 5 combined innings, allowing 3 hits, and no earned runs. Whitlock went 2 innings in the 6-5 win, while Gonzalez pitched 2 innings in that same game to end the series. Gonzalez also had a perfect outing in game 2, where he shut down Chicago in the 3-1 victory closing out the game.

Now, well rested, Omaha moved onto face Yellow Springs, who this season, set the record for wins in a season.
