Omaha to pay $6,750,000 in bonuses.(44.39)

Post by niles08 » Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:41 pm

Omaha is currently set to pay out nearly $7,000,000 in various roster bonuses this year with nearly half going to franchise great Emilio Morales.

Before being injured, Morales accumulated 526 plate appearances crossing the 500 needed to cash out a $2,500,000 bonus. He also was voted in as an all-star injury replacement which allowed him to pocket another cool $1,250,000 from the Cyclones.

Outfielder Andre Ly had a $1,000,000 bonus paid out for crossing 500 plate appearances this season as well and second baseman James Monger was given $2,000,000 for his 500+ plate appearances.

Pitchers Jose Lima & Stephen Clulow are both going to fall short of their $1,000,000 and $1,500,000 payouts for reaching 200 and 175 innings this year. Lima is only at 107 after a horrible season, and Clulow was shifted to the pen months ago leaving him 49 innings short of reaching 175.

Of course, there are some end of the season award payout possibilities but none that seem expected at this time. Aki Kondo could be awarded $800,000 with a Nebraska win. Morales could pocket another $2,500,000 if he was awarded the Sawyer Silk. Orlando Ordonez would be awarded $1.1M for the same recognition as would fellow outfielder Andre Ly.

That's a hefty sum in bonuses. Kudos to Omaha for not manipulating a way to rob Morales of 27 plate appearances.

I never kept track of m bonuses payouts but I'll bet I doubled this number some year in California. I had some crazy bonus structures at one point. Ron does track his bonus payouts I think so I wonder where this figure sits from a YS viewpoint.

I bet he would’ve if he had a better grasp on playoffs. Every AB matters down the stretch. Curious to see if he does the same thing when Kondo’s vesting option approaches. If it comes down to game 162/163.

I thought the same thing. Had Omaha been clinched or out of the race all together would we have seen Morales get to 500 PAs? Or did the owner forget about the bonus. haha
