Stephen Clulow has had a pretty down season but after allowing just 2 runs in his past 2 starts spanning 13 innings, Clulow felt discomfort in his elbow near the final pitch. That discomfort is going to cost Clulow 5-6 weeks on an early lost season for Omaha.

With Jake Garcia sitting in the bullpen, it looks as if Omaha is ready to give him the nod to take over in the rotation. Garcia has done okay in 7 starts this season, with a 4.10 ERA in 37 innings, where he has struck out 35 and walked 16.

While Carlos Silva is another option, he came up for 5 starts earlier this season, and had a 6.33 ERA despite a 5.15 FIP in 27 innings. He struggled with control, walking 14 batters. His AAA numbers are much more sparkly with a 3.11 ERA, 3.30 FIP over 72 innings. It’s likely the club will leave him in AAA, however the rest of the season for service time issues.

Leonard Collins is another interesting pitcher who hasn’t had a chance yet and is 21 years old. He looks to be ready for the most part, and has a 3.48 ERA and 3.15 FIP in 2043 at AAA along with a 3.55 ERA in 2043 at AA Sioux City.

A few exciting players, however the one who has garnered the most attention from fans is Leonardo Ramos in AAA. He has nearly come out nowhere, and at just 20 years old, many fans are putting pressure on the front office to bring Ramos up to the Cyclones.

Why are fans excited? Is it his 3.58 ERA in AAA? His all-star selection? Maybe the fact he is left handed? No…What has fans the most excited is his excellent knuckleball. That knuckleball has led him through the minors so far after the club selected him in the third round of the 2042 draft.

The team has already announced that Garcia is going to fill in for Clulow during this absence, so it’s not likely they back off of that however don’t expect the commotion and pressure to back off either, especially if Ramos isn’t given an opportunity in 2044, where right now it currently looks like the team has a pretty spoken for rotation.

Ramos will be an interesting study. Perhaps with a great knuckler the other ratings are not as important.
