Quentin Richardson fired in Omaha.(43.30)

The tweet above surfaced just minutes ago in breaking news fashion around the state of Nebraska. Longtime manager Quentin Richardson has been relieved of his duties as the manager of the Omaha Cyclones.

Richardson has been the only Manager that Omaha has known, as he has been with the organization at the BBA level since 2031, and has spent his entire professional coaching career with the franchise.

Richardson will depart with a 788-752 coaching record, good for a 51 percent winning percentage. He qualified for the playoffs 5 times while at the helm in Omaha, most recently just last season in 2042, but had made the playoffs 5 times, compared to missing the playoffs 4 times over his reign.

He was in the last year of his contract earning $1,270,000 and there was speculation just months ago regarding Richardson’s status, when the front office stepped in and said that Richardson was actually going to be expected back next season.

In the midst of a 31-50 season, that apparently changed.
